Actinidia kolomikta originates in the same region as Actinidia arguta, but is slightly more frost hardy and starts shooting very early in the season and the fruit ripens from late July to late September (depends on the variety). Ripe kiwis fall off the vine and quickly start rottinh and decaying. Kolomiktas are all heterogamous plants (they need to be pollinated by different plant) and in case there are only female plants in some closed area, they can pollinate themselves to some limited extent. Actinidia kolomikta fruit contains more C vitamin than arguta fruit and the highest levels of vitamin C are in the fruit from Mr. Kola, Nr.17
